[Tamagotchi]

Generation 2

Generation 2 Tamagotchi is amazingly similar to Generation 1 Tamagotchi. They are the same size, shape and weight. Physically they are the same, they are vastly different on the inside. NO, don't crack open your Tamagotchi, it's programming, not "parts". Having said that, let me show you some proof.

Notice the different cast of characters.

You'll notice I'm showing a "limited edition" Gold Tamagotchi Generation 2. I don't see why these are rare, as I saw 3 full pegs of these at my local Toys R Us. I must say I don't like the Gold ones because the gold coat gets dirty and can't be cleaned, plus rubs off. I prefer the colored plastic ones as a quick swipe with a paper towel and a touch of Windex returns them to their original shine. The best part is that your Tamagotchi won't go running around naked because Windex stops streaking! Please also note that I removed the keychain for taking "photographs". Please note that it appears that Generation 2 Tamagotchi come with the sturdier keychain rather than the flimsier bracelet/snap chain that sometimes accompanies Generation 1 Tamagotchi.

Other note-worthy things to mention is that the game is different. Instead of the "guess which way I will turn", you guess "higher or lower". The Tamagotchi displays a number between 1 and 9, and you guess if you think the hidden number will be higher or lower. Odds are a little better. Another item to mention is that the food/snack screen is now replaced with icons representing food or snack. The top one is food, just as before. The only other thing worth mentioning is in regards to sick Tamagotchi. The "injection" or "shot" has been replaced with a medicine bottle. I guess too many kids complained about giving or getting shots so Bandai created a kinderand gentler veterinarian interface. Apparently this is your general purpose icky tasking medicine as Tamagotchi doesn't like this remedy any better than the injections used in Generation 1. Other than the fact that the characters are different, basic care is essentially the same. The manual is nearly identical to that of Generation 1 Tamagotchi.
