General neglect in full effect. Yeah, stuff is being added, hope you like it. Otherwise, I'm not spending much time with this section. I add stuff here and there when I feel like it. In the mean time, I'm working on my own DNS blacklist and doing other things to protect myself against spam.
December 2, 2002
Wow, been a full 18 month since I've updated this page. Big deal. I've been neglecting the site pretty darn hard recently. I did add GameCube stuff and I have created new GameCube content, but haven't posted it yet. Check back now and then, maybe one day I'll be motivated to upload it. I'm selling a TurboGrafx Express on Ebay with some games, a Game Gear with a game and a Japanese Game Boy Advance title. I expect to have those items online in a day or two, along with some stereo equipment and a large amount of Star Wars items. All of these can make great Christmas presents.
June 2, 2001
New pages added. Mario Tennis for N64, Mario Tennis for Game Boy Color. Tetris, Tetris DX, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Donkey Kond Land, Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Dream Land 2 for Game Boy. Go find them and enjoy.
May 22, 2001
Lots of things going on recently. The Game Boy Advance and WonderSwan Color are in, as well as a new Game Boy title. Those changes have finally all been posted. I am working on a page specifically for the TV Tuner sections of the Game Gear TV Tuner and the TurboVision TV tuner for the TurboGrafx Express. Those will go online soon.
I'm also putting way too much work into the PC gaming section and will be putting up a LOT of information there hopefully within the next day or so.
The site is becoming fun again.
May 6, 2001
I have acquired an import Game Boy Advance and Mario Advance for that system and it should arrive this week. I saw a deal too tempting to pass up on a import retailer that many have had bad experiences with, myself included. However, here is to hoping things go well.
I have also acquired a Bandai Wonderswan Color with a golf game, nothing else looked good to me. I should have that in my possession this week as well. That reminds me, with new systems, I should get my better flatbed scanner operating again so as to take consistent images of them.
The PC Gaming section will be expanding soon. I've moved my local copy of the web site so I have more room and will be adding pictures of my current gaming PC. I do need to swap some fans though so that might delay things even more as I'll need to take lots of new pictures. I'll also go into technical details for building your own PC and how to do basic PC and Mac repairs. Yes, I'll still do the standard type stuff here, but this Mac/PC section will also be technical.
Been playing my Game Boy Color again. Nice. Need to get controller extension cables for my N64 and bundle those together. Nonurgent stuff. I have also decided on logical updates for the gaming PC and will be getting those parts within the coming months.
I might be adding Playstation and Dreamcast support to this section. I do not own either of these units, nor will I in the future, but some very close friends of mine have these units and they have expressed an interest in being involved in this site. I'll see how it goes but I am rather excited about the idea.
April 1, 2001
No fooling. I've put up the PC gaming section. Not that great yet, but will be OK sometime in the future. Nothing exciting now but will be including pages for games in the future as time permits.
March 15, 2001
Beware the Ides of March. Oooh, scary!!! Nothing to report. Debating on putting up my Mac and PC gaming sections, but not really motivated to throw that stuff up. Doing some minor site editing, fixing some mistakes, general maintenance stuff. Looking to get a Game Boy Advance. Been more into PC gaming at the moment.
March 25, 2000
In an effort to make this section sponsor-friendly, some minor changes have been made. It's been a bit of work but only took a couple of hours. Some other mistakes in regards to the site moving from one ISP to another ISP was corrected.
A Game.Com Pocket Pro with Backlight has been secured and should be online in a few days.
March 15, 2000
Added Furby and WonderSwan information to the site, did a little re-arranging and had to edit a bunch of include pages. I'm planning on adding a PC/Mac gaming section, and the Game.Com Pocket Pro information should be up within a week.
I was bored and the WonderSwan came in today. At least the Game.Com Pocket Pro won't require so much effort.
January 12, 2000
Nothing real exciting to report. I "flattened" out the site a little bit. The Tamagotchi section was flattened by bringing the Digimon and Generation 2 stuff into the Tamagotchi directory and renamed the files AND put pointers in the old files to the new ones. Also, the same treatment was given to the Boogerman files. This just saves me some time and frustration when doing updates. I can't figure out why the Digimon page is getting so many hits. Perhaps I should sell two of my Digimon off. I have two new in the boxes, although the boxes are now dusty and a little worn from movement.
I recently discovered PC gaming, so much so that today I built a PC just for gaming. Truly incredible. I'm debating putting up a lame PC gaming section, of the same style and lack of flash as the rest of the site. Actually, this has been in the planning since November. Today the last of the parts arrived and the machine was assembled.
I'm proud to say that the web board is completely tested and in place. Too bad it will never get used. Anyone who wishes to express an opinion on this topic is going to have to query a whois database and email the administrative contact in regards to this issue.
In the mean time, I have some counter issues to attend to that I've been procrastinating about since at least November. Perhaps this weekend will find completion to that project.
November 6, 1999
Well, isn't this cute? Some jerk decided the anti-spam web board would be a perfect forum for some pressure tactics. This person tried to get the web board re-instated. I can't re-instate something I never put up in the first place. Well, when I basically said "no", this individual proceed to verbally abuse me via that web board and then make a HUGE garbage post follow-up. As a result: EVERYBODY loses. There will be NO web board. Thanks to persistent email abuse, there is NO email support. I figure a few more abuses and I'll just block the whole damn site.
Remember, you're a guest here. ACT LIKE ONE.
September 9, 1999
I added cheats for FIFA99 for Nintendo64. I hope you choke on them. Still no schedule on the web board, and no sign of me restoring the email forms any time soon.
Also, I'm seeing persistent counter problems. I can at least say NOBODY is trying to steal counter service, which is nice. Unfortunately, resolving this issue properly is going to take a LOT of work. Weekend project....
August 24, 1999
I'm still mad about the previous update. Out of boredom, I think I hammered out the rest of the issues I have regarding the web board. The web board will return to me the IP address and DNS entry(if applicable) of ANYONE who posts to the web board. I am satisfied with the web board and will be implementing a few tiny tweaks that I did here to the Anti-Spam web board.
Now that email has been completely cut off due to abusers, I have no way of getting feedback. Darn. I'm going to update the N64 page to reflect a game I've had for 9 months and failed to add to the list. Shucks.
This is probably the last stand of this video game site. Should more abuse be directed my way, then I'm just going to block everything at the root level of the site and then clear the whole damn thing out, remove the directory, trash the files and never look back. Remember, you're a GUEST so be polite.
August 16, 1999
I'm fed up with this crap. Earlier I get a form filled out by some idiot who wants to give me Nomad conversion plans so he can try and sue me. He also wants me to market this stuff for him. Sorry, you want advertising, then you PAY for it.
The idiot sends another form today telling me in basic terms that they are intending to commit postal fraud and want me to assist. Sorry, but I won't help people commit crimes. Reminds me of the idiot who stole a Nomad and wanted information on the battery pack.
As a result, email has been completely removed from this section until further notice. The long delay on the web board will be lengthened. I'm close to shutting down this whole section as I'm just sick of the whole damn thing.
May 10, 1999
The web board has been delayed. Big deal. I've been dealing with spam, life, work and all sorts of other stuff. I'll try and get to it this weekend. I may get it done during the week. I may not do it at all. Depends on my mood.
Speaking of moods, spammers have harvested the video game address. I have changed that address. What I intend to do is to find a new CGI so I can completely hide my email address from spammers. I may already have the CGI somewhere, I just have to scrounge it up. I'm sick of spam and do everything I can to avoid it. When I get spam, I make sure I fully complain about it. As always, NO DIRECT emails, you must use the form. If need be, I'll use a "magic number" method to block messages.
April 11, 1999
I'm going to add a web board. First sign of trouble and it goes away. I am also working on a new section in regards to the abuse I put up with for running this site. It's not quite ready yet. The new stuff should show up in a couple of weeks.
April 9, 1999
All ordered video games have arrived. Quickie-style reviews have been posted. New Virtual boy cheats have been added. New files were added to the FAQ Form. Counters were added. Still debating interactive features especially since the OLD files were not saved. Contemplating added scans of the Virtual Boy cartridges for usage on the Virtual Boy page plus I would have to scan in 9 new cartridges.
April 7, 1999
It's been quite a time since the last update. Lots of information was added to the Atari Lynx page. 9 new Virtual Boy games have been ordered. 8 have arrived. I probably won't get to these for several days. More work will happen with the Virtual Boy site in the future. I'm also working on the system comparison page(s) as well. Trust me, it's PAGES and not the page you think you're seeing.
More and hopefully final efforts have been made to move users from the OLD game site to the NEW game site.
It's time for me to share my abuse with the internet at large. A new section will be created and will be dedicated to the abusive emails I receive. Perhaps you can see why I strongly discourage email and ANY contact from the internet at large in regards to video games. I will admit that a few people make their way through the system and I have enjoyed conversing with them, while the rest have been extremely abusive. The most recent example was by an especially hateful individual who went through ALL the discouragement pages and still sent me a nasty email.
Still no decision about the interactive content but I am leaning towards it. Again, it depends on what my archives reveal. Fortunately, I'm something of a pack-rat and I tend to save everything.
April 2, 1999
I'm a little mad at myself. I was going to order 8 import Virtual Boy titles, but I trashed the email I forwarded to my work address. I later found out it wouldn't have done me any good anyways since the place I am ordering from is closed for Easter break. I placed the order online and I'm sure I'll get confirmation on Monday or Tuesday and perhaps have the items by the end of next week. I'm fairly intent on getting ALL Virtual Boy titles made. I have a feeling I'm going to have to scrounge to get any other titles. This should probably take care of game updates for a while once the latest shipment arrives.
Still no decision on the whether or not to add interactivity to the site. I'll have to look at my old archives and see how much work I'm going to have to do. I'm going to my office this weekend to work on some projects. I think I'll save Sunday to do some updates to the Atari Lynx section. Maybe I'll work on some of the material I've accumulated on the Virtual Boy as well.
I'd like to comment positively on the LACK of abuse I've been receiving lately. Apparently both the email discouragement is working as intended(for the most part). Thank you! I have been tired of my kindness and generousity repaid with flames and other online attacks. Please keep in mind that I have a very full schedule and lots of responsibilities, and video games is merely a hobby of mine. My job frequently extends to 7 days a week and mostly well over 60 hours a week. There's just things that I need to accomplish that can't be done during a normal work week. I've got not complaints about my job situation, but I do have issue with having to deal with abuse over a crappy video game site. So, unless you're reporting an ERROR or it's something super-important, you can bet money that I'm not concerned. Let's fact it, my video game site is crappy. To those who like it, I do appreciate your visits. To those of you who hate my site, please visit the links page and get the hell out of here as all of those links take you COMPLETELY out of my site.
March 31, 1999
I made a big mess out of things. However, I resolved the problem. Turns out for some reason, the security CGI didn't like the original file name for the Game Boy Pocket page, so I had to change the name and also the associated links; there is no logical explanation for this issue but it is solved. Now it works. I also uploaded the new files and tested them. I'm also working to add some new pages and am still contemplating new features. Don't say I never gave you anything...
March 30, 1999
UPS delivered my stuff a day late(their fault). Looks like they just left it at one of their stations overnight. Anyhow, the NeoGeo Pocket Color is in and so is the Game Boy Light. Pictures have already been scanned and the new pages are almost ready for upload, so expect new pages within 48 hours or less. I've also got to add the link for Tronix. I'll just wait until all the changes I have made are completed and I'll just upload it all at once(except for this page).
I'm currently contemplating bringing some interactive content to the site, but previous abuse makes me hesitant. I'm thinking about bringing back the web board, adding a guestbook and doing some interactive link stuff(add links, random links and the like). I'm in no hurry as this all takes work and I try and neglect this site as much as possible. Don't let the updates fool you, this site will always be severely neglected.
March 22, 1999
In my goal to simply things, I have been working to remove one of the video game sites and just keep ONE site. I'm doing this by re-directing folks from one site to the Studio42 one. So far, so good.
I've been working with Tronix recently. I must say I've been very pleased with them so far. I had ordered a Neo Geo Pocket Color plus 2 titles AND a Game Boy Light. I got confirmation of the order yesterday for final approval, which I approoved. Today they told me the package had shipped so I checked the UPS page and guess what; the package had indeed shipped. Fast, friendly service. I am very happy with this mail order arrangement and will be strongly recommending Tronix for most of my online ordering of video games. I'll definately be creating a link to them on the page that I use for links.
Once I have received my package from Tronix, I will be placing an order at United Games for some Virtual Boy titles. I have been procrastinating that order for no good reason for almost a mont. I'll be taking care of that order ASAP.
In case you haven't been reading the Anti-Spam site news, you're missing out on more events of my personal life. At any rate, I'm in the middle of an office move. At this point, all the computers are at the new location and so is the furniture. The best part is that there is no pile of crap on top of the scanner as of current, so there's no reason for me to not quickly scan in new images. I'll try and get one of my famous images of the Game Boy Light and Neo Geo Pocket Color as soon as possible.
March 13, 1999
Since I was bored and sick, I decided to visit my video game site. ICK!!! There were TONS of problems that needed to be fixed. Since I was at it, I did some more server side include work so I can edit off-line without artificially increasing the count. There may be some graphic issues, which will be addressed in time.
We will be order some import Virtual Boy titles this week, as well as a Game Boy Light and a Neo Geo Pocket Color with at least 2 titles. The new information will be added when I feel like it.
March 7, 1999
We're looking to get a bunch of import Virtual Boy titles. In order to stay bleeding edge, I'll be trying to get a Neo Geo Pocket Color as soon as it comes out, perhaps with titles. We'll also be getting a Game Boy Lite systemt to complete the Game Boy variants. Updates were done to the system comparison page as well. Updates are tricky since I am running near-mirror sites. I'll be attempting to direct traffic to just one site.
I did some other stuff too. Oooh, big deal.
December 15, 1998
The Neo Geo Pocket has arrived. I'm getting the information together for the site prepared right now. I should have something online by Saturday. Then again, nobody visits this site anyways, so I'm sure it won't be missed if I am late.
December 8, 1998
Just got EA Sports FIFA 99 for Nintendo64. WOW! I don't care for the music, but the game is kick-ass! Big improvements over previous versions. Less controller configuration, but I always used defaults anyways.
December 7, 1998
The Neo Geo Pocket is on the way! I ordered it today and should have it within the week. Don't expect too much until after the new year. I'll try and quickly throw up an over-view and perhaps try and add it to the systems comparison page, but that would probably be it. Of course, not like any reads it, but I updated the Systems Comparison page to include the Game Boy Color.
November 29, 1998
I grow weary of the constant abuse that comes my way, especially from AOL users. While I try to neglect this site as much as possible, when I take it down, the abuse sent my way increases ten-fold. My charity has reached an end. This site is looking at the very real possibility of either moving or being torn down. If moved, it will be secured so I won't have to deal with abusive domains. I offer the site to be kind and it has repaid me with grief. I'm going to test alternate methods of protecting the site from abusers. The Mortal Kombat page will be my test page.
In other news, I'm trying to acquire a Neo Geo Pocket and 3 titles, power supply and link cable. I'll be trying to get the Game.Com network/internet stuff fairly soon as well. I think it will be cool to have a pocket-sized dumb terminal on my network. Unfortunately, all the toy stores are choked with the christmas rush right now and I'm not in any mood to deal with crowds of that nature(ever).
All direct email support has been cut off. Users will no longer be able to email me using their emailers. Should you need to contact me, please follow the Email Trail.
November 26, 1998
I added some new pages to the Game Boy section to reflect the Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color. I also updated a couple of other pages in regards to this as well. I figured the site had been in neglect for over 40 days, it might be time to do something. Don't say I never gave you anything.... I'm now in search of buying the NeoGeo portable system and a few games, and to add more to my Game.Com page.
October 10, 1998
Not like anyone cares, but I added Rampage World Tour, FIFA64, FIFA:RTWC98, WC98, ISS64 and ISS98 pages to the site. I also did some clean-up and editing of the Mortal Kombat 4 for N64 page
September 6, 1998
In case you didn't know, I purchased a Nintendo64 sometime in July. I will be adding my Nintendo64 information to this site within 10 days. The ENTIRE site will be replaced with a site that looks EXACTLY the same, except different. I'm retrofitting the site for server-side includes to help make future updates easier. Be aware that this is extremely low priority and if something else comes up, then oh well, project delayed. Along with this change will be other changes, mainly bringing back the original navigation. All the OLD URL's will be inaccurate, but that's OK.
Because my load has dropped, there is no major URL change. This may change, depending on the spammers. I'm not concerned with the negative impact this may have on the video game site.
August 5, 1998
Wow, two bits of good news, one bit of bad news. First, the two bits of good news: I saw someone in usenet plugging my video game site so someone could get the Nomad FAQ. I'm honored. The second bit of good news is the first POSITIVE comment on the site in over 18 months, unless you include the submissions to the Nomad FAQ. Now the BAD news: this site is moving yet again. This move is due to the antics of spammers who are making my personal account(that is directly tied to this site) unusable. Just add a second "t". The current site is:
http://www.ns.net/~cpicket/vidgame/
The new URL is:
http://www.ns.net/~cpickett/vidgame/
This change will be unannounced and will eventually take place. Make a note of it. I may also use this as an excuse to get rid of the entire site once and for all, leaving only the Sega Genesis Nomad FAQ as the ONLY surviving document. I'd appreciate your comments on this, so go use the Email Form. If there doesn't appear to be interest, I'll just lose the site, as I don't feel like wasting my time on it if there is no real demand for it.
July 12, 1998
Due to the immature antics of a specific AOL member, America Online is no longer allowed on this site. Sure, I could just block them from certain areas, but I wanted to send a stronger statement. AOL: Gone. End of discussion. I'm fed up with dealing with those jerks. Web TV is next on my hit list.
